About IWS
Purpose

The Idaho Watercolor Society was founded in the fall of 1979 to support and promote aqua media, and to educate the public as to the significance of the media. Active membership is open to those residing in the State of Idaho and is comprised of a range of painters from beginner to professional.

Southcentral Region:  Twin Falls, Wendell, Jerome, Gooding, Sun Valley, Burley, Rupert & Declo.

Southwest Region:  Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Fruitland, Meridian, Emmett, New Meadows, McCall,  Eagle & Mountain Home.

 
Annual Events of IWS

JAN, FEB, OR MARCH: Rotunda Show at the Capitol, Boise. Open show for Active members, open to all regions. Also a spring workshop featuring a prominate regional artist is usually offered.

 

JUNE: Annual Juried Exhibition & Workshop. A nationally prominent artist selects show entries from slides, jurors from actual paintings, gives an workshop in Boise, and gives an evening demo open to public, each with a fee. There is also an Annual Awards Ceremony, an opening reception of the show, with the show on display for several weeks at Boise State University, Student Union Gallery, Boise. A Traveling Show of paintings also selected by the juror is presented in regional areas from July to December.

 

AUGUST OR JULY: Paint-out camp-out, arranged by IWS board with a regional artist presenting the workshop.

 

OPEN SHOW: At least once a year, each region plans it's activities. Contact regional representatives for more information. With any membership you receive the IWS Newsletter published every two months with all coming events and entry dates, etc.

 

DECEMBER, JANUARY: Regional Christmas parties - pot luck and fun evening get-together, contact your regional representative.
